This morning I was standing at my back door, looking up at the sky and noticed the moon that was still in the sky while the sun was coming up. It reminded me of being a child. Playing outside and noticing things like that. How the clouds moved. How the moon looked. How the sun made the dust particules dance in the air in the livingroom. And it made me sad for a time when I was free to notice those things.
We go through life in a rush. Jobs to get to. Kids to get on the move to this and that. We wake to an alarm and it is off to the races as the day begins. We spend the day working, making calls, talking to teachers, running to dance classes and rush home to make dinner, do homework and off to bed. Only to start the cycle again with the sound of an alarm.
But when was the last time you noticed the little things? The ants that crawl in the tall grass. The flitter of a butterfly. The way the sun hits the walls in the morning. The feel of sand falling between your fingers. The hoot of an owl while you played outside in the evening. The shapes of a cloud. The smell after a summer rain. The way the grass feels between your toes as you run in the yard.
When was the last time you danced with the dust particules in the sun?
