Smokey Mountains

Sha-Kon-O-Hey .........

Cherokee for the Land of the Blue Smoke.

Being from NJ and the shore area, we do not have anything to compare to the Smokey Mountains. The smell of the trees, the clean mountain water that trickles down the mountain, the wild life.....it is all amazing.

I sit on that mountain and think of all the people before me......the Cherokee indians that lived there, the pioneers that walked the trails, the people that built their dreams on that very land and it is amazing to think that I too am standing in that very spot.

I look out over the edge of the mountain in awe that God created something so incredible and I am able to see it.

Tuesday we headed up into and over the mountain into Bryson City NC, stopping along the way for pictures and views. It was a lovely cool day with the sun shining bright.

After we got over the mountain, we stopped for lunch at a local cafe and then headed out for a hike in Deep Creek Park in the Smokey Mountains.

The boys climbed the water fall. And both came down wet!! Although it gave us all a good laugh, I am not so sure they enjoyed the wet butts!

After a day of hiking we headed back over the mountain and stopped for dinner in Gatlinburg, TN.

Papa and Mimi wanted to take the lift to the top of the mountain.........

View from the top....

There lays Gatlinburg! Cuddled inbetween mountain ridges.
